July is brimming with fantastic cycling events around the Western Cape, perfect for every cyclist eager to explore the beautiful trails, test their endurance, and connect with fellow cyclists.


So, here are some must-join events happening this July:

 

IBIS MIGRATION IN THE GARDEN ROUTE

For all the IBIS owners… IBIS Cycles South Africa is thrilled to introduce this brand new event. As founder Scot Nicol puts it:

 

"Ibis Migrations are site-specific celebrations of our mountain biking community and an ideal first taste of the 'secret sauce' that makes Ibis what it is. Expect fine food in excellent locations, camaraderie with fellow Ibisians, and thrilling rides on the best trails around."


Date: 18-22 July

Location: Garden Route

Experience: Trail riding showcasing Ibis bikes in their ideal environment

Accommodation and all meals included

Cost: R8000.00 per rider (subsidized)

B-WELL AROUND THE POT GRAVEL EXTRAVAGANZA

Explore the Overberg's terrain with B-Well and SEESA. This event features glorious wide-open gravel roads, perfect for riding with friends and enjoying the stunning Canola fields in full bloom.

 

The joy of this event is that you get to choose your distance:

200 miles (321km)

100 miles (160km)

60 miles (98km)

25 miles (40km)

 

Riders can look out for some amazing highlights on the routes, including:

The Malgas River Ferry-Crossing - the longer routes include a unique ferry-crossing of the Malgas River, with a 45-minute neutral zone featuring food and music. Riders can also enjoy the brilliant landscapes and wildlife, especially on the 25-mile route through Bontebok National Park.

ROOIBOS MTB BY CARMIEN

Finally, we recommend riders join the Rooibos MTB event for a thrilling 1-day mountain biking experience. Cyclists can choose from three scenic routes passing over privately owned farms and district roads, suitable for mountain, gravel, and e-bikes. This non-technical event offers breathtaking views and a great way to spend a day cycling with fellow enthusiasts.

 

Routes:

80km (recommended for experienced riders)

55km

30km

 

Date: 27 July

Location: Citrusdal

Cost: R120 – R600 per rider depending on the distance.
