August is packed with thrilling cycling events that cater to all levels of riders. From challenging bikepacking races to fun runs and gravel grinds, there’s something for everyone.


We want to be sure you don't miss a single opportunity to be in the saddle so, here are some exciting events happening this month that you won’t want to miss:



 

Ceres 500

Date: Friday, 09 Aug 2024 - Sunday, 11 Aug 2024

Location: Ceres, Western Cape, South Africa

 

The Ceres 500 is a bikepacking race that takes participants through the breathtaking landscapes and rich history of the Cederberg region. Over 520 kilometers with a total elevation gain of 6450 meters, riders will traverse rugged terrain and conquer challenging elevations. The route includes iconic sights like the Sentinel, Wolfberg Arch, and the famed Dasklip Pass. This event is a true test of endurance and a celebration of the natural beauty and cultural heritage of the Cederberg.


 

 

Aurora Om Die Berg - MTB & Fun Run

Date: Saturday, 24 Aug 2024

Location: Aurora Skou, Western Cape, South Africa

 

Aurora Om Die Berg is an annual cycling event held alongside the Aurora Skou. With three cycling routes—10km, 20km, and 55km—there’s something for every level of cyclist. The 55km route takes you through farm routes and around the Aurora mountain, offering stunning views and blooming flowers. This exclusive route is open only for this event, so don’t miss out! The day will be filled with food, drinks, Sandveld hospitality, and entertainment for the whole family.






King Price Race to the Sea

Date: Saturday, 31 Aug 2024

Location: Franschhoek, Western Cape, South Africa

 

The King Price Race to the Sea is a 100-mile (164 km) gravel grinder that starts in scenic Franschhoek and finishes at Benguela Cove near Hermanus. This race will test your perseverance and skill as you pedal through some of the Western Cape’s most breathtaking scenery. There will be six well-stocked water points along the way. For those looking for a shorter challenge, there’s a 50-mile (80 km) option suitable for riders 15 years and older.



 

 

Vines and Views MTB Classic

Date: Saturday, 31 Aug 2024

Location: Die Keldery Vredendal, Western Cape, South Africa

 

The Vines and Views MTB Classic, part of the 2024 Western Cape XCM Championship, offers something for every riding style and fitness level. With 25km, 55km, and 80km routes, riders will traverse various landscapes and enjoy the stunning scenery of the region. This event coincides with the annual wildflower spectacle, providing an unparalleled experience. All races start and finish at Die Keldery function venue at Spruitdrift Winery (Namaqua Wines). The weekend kicks off with a festive registration on Friday, followed by great post-race vibes and entertainment, and a short social ride on Sunday.
